Mailing Lists
Tompkins County SURJ has two mailing lists:
The chapter announcements email list is a very low-traffic list (around 3–4 emails per month) for announcements from the chapter's leadership. Join to hear about meetings and opportunities to act.
The chapter discussion email list is an open list for discussion and announcements from the community. While the chapter leadership moderates the list, it's open for posts from any list member.
Most people sign up for both lists. Click the links above and press the "ask to join group" button.
Get Involved
We are always seeking new levels of involvement from people to help keep the chapter running and to participate in projects with other groups and individuals. All of our work is done in accountability with local people of color-led organizations and initiatives. Please sign up for our mailing lists above, or email the chapter's organizers at tcsurj@gmail.com with your questions.
Whether your skills, experience, and desires lead you to help with education, outreach, or one of our action campaigns, we are grateful for your time & energy, and need your help to keep us growing and moving, until justice is real.
Moving Money
One of the most important actions that white folks can take is moving money from sources based in centuries of wealth stolen from BIPOC communities back into those BIPOC communities. This can be done locally! Tompkins County SURJ does not collect money for its own operations, but we organize the Redistributing White Wealth campaign to help combat wealth inequality in our county.
